Been using for a couple of weeks now, working on my first track. I've started having a bit of trouble remembering which patterns serve what function, e.g.:
- which Beatbox pattern was the drum fill at the end of the verse?
- which was the F#m chord in first inversion on the Padsynth?
- where's the E quarter-note bass pulse in the Subsynth?
So I was writing the patterns out on staff paper and labeling them "A1", "B3" and whatnot, but this morning just thought of something that will probably be easier and more efficient as a reference. I made a 4x16 grid in Excel for the sixteen slots per four banks, wherein I can write notes describing each pattern in use. Also at the top I have spaces to write the title of the composition, the filename, the particular machine that these patterns use, and the patch (sound) that the machine is set to.
I offer them up here to anybody who cares to download and print them.
Here's the Excel file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ygyux61nn7pfio1/Caustic%20-%20Patterns.xlsx
And if you don't have access to Excel, here's a scanned PDF: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xe5757k195wv2rl/CAUSTIC-patterns.pdf
Enjoy!
great idea, maybe a beat box temple too, so other user can show drum patterns that they use.

Not for me - I'm not at all religious, or even spiritual.
I'll come to the beatbox temple when it's built!
Okay, added two tabs to the Excel workbook: BEATBOX 16 and BEATBOX 32.
Each has four grids for laying out triggers on the eight beatbox tracks, plus eight lines at the top to list what each sample is triggered on that track.
Obvi, one is subdivided into 16th-notes and one into 32nd-notes.
Here's a PDF of the beatbox sheets: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xhk7vl5aa849tfo/CAUSTIC-beatbox.pdf
[edit]
One more update; added a tab "BEATBOX 3" for triple rhythms, each beat is subdivided by 12 so you can do eighth-note or sixteenth-note triplets without having to engage the "swing" function. I uploaded and overwrote the files, so the existing links point to the most current versions.
[edit2]
Rearranged the files and put them in a Caustic-specific folder; here's the link to all of them: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/nxpqrg14db3wpca/AABj45vQMV8DW6Nc2t1lvtZ9a
Okay, I'm done. Peace.
Okay, one more thing: an example of what I had in mind when I created the pattern worksheet. Here's the beginnings of the sheet for the beatbox patterns in my current project. My track has three sections planned, so I've allocated a bank to each section, with bank "D" reserved for patterns related to the intro section (and the outro, if I end up adding one). This will apply to all the machines used, for consistency.

... preview fail; apparently I can't show the image here, so here's a link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eg51o6h78xq9czh/Patterns-example.JPG
hahaha funny, sorry for the typo,

Dry erase boards with your setup do wonders to keep things in order as well.
Good idea.

Maybe so, but I don't have lots of dry erase boards available; this lets me track each machine by itself on a separate worksheet.
Not bad. I hate organizing like this. Reminds me i'm gettin' old. lol
Regarding laying out drums I wrote this a while back. Which is how I do it. Which may, or may not, be of use!

I've done similar things before..... comes in handy when you have many many patterns for each machine like I do sometimes
