So you used this guy RadioRev's idea for the community jam, and then when his turn comes up he doesn't show or even answer his e-mail? What an irresponsible asshole...
(That was not sarcasm; that was an apology)
My health is shit, as is half my mind; had a bit of a breakdown, and by the time I recovered, was too embarrassed to come back for awhile. That's twice now I've done this to y'all.
Sorry man. But you don't need to feel embarrassed to come back to us, we'll always take you back. When asked how many times we should forgive one another, Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times."
Regarding the Community Jam concept.... I'm wondering, if we do another one, what would make it really appealing? What would make it better?
I'm fine with that I guess, but part of the goal was to by chance expose players to machines they might not use very often, and force them to work with it. I'll bet if you messed around with the Vocoder, you might surprise yourself. It's sole purpose isn't only to make robotic sounding voices......
Forgive me, I had to equalaterally cut all mixer channels's levels each by -4dB, because the mix was clipping so badly here, it is hard to make out what's really going on here..... Just wanted to put that up front. I hope to have my submission kicked back within 24 hrs.
One observation I see in mastering is that the user decides on what sounds good to them or they even aim for some kind of amplitude frequency level for every instrument. Bass/Mids/Highs
I don't know the.rules for round six or how it's gonna work but I would like it to go to how round 1 was and if it is this is what I got for the first slot
Let's try and get a general consensus on how we want to run #6. I think random machine assignment was a cool experiment, but I'd like to return to artist's choice.
I also would like #6 to loosely target a specific style, to help align everyone's contribution. I think this will also make the job of the final person a bit more reasonable, as they have a sound-style to shoot for.
I suggest something like this for our next track "Feed Me: One Click Headshot" We could use every Caustic machine in something like that.
Lemme know what you all think, so we're generally all on board before I throw the post up for #6 in a couple days.
I appreciate the enthusiasm, but we don't even know who is going to start round 6 off yet. Once the post is up, it generally has been a first come first serve basis. Also, I'd like to try and keep things organized with respect to files, and each thread should only contain caustic files pertinent to the thread it is contained in.
One more note about Community Jam 5: the very first comment on Soundcloud claims that the track really needs to be mixed/mastered better. Now I know this track is unlike anything I've heard before, but that somebody else seems to think that the mastering needs work. Perhaps somebody could satisfy that claim with a remix, if interested? I am going to respond to the comment on Soundcloud and invite that user here to try and remix it. We'll see if they bite I guess.
Mixing these Comm Jams is a tough job, I've still got a remix of Comm Jam 4 on the backburner which is nowhere near finished. I think CJ5 was particularly tough cos there were a lot of competing sounds by the end of it. I do think the final mix lacks focus if I'm honest (sorry dragonborn) but it was a tough job and I definitely couldn't do any better, certainly not without spending a looong time on it.
Digital Erosion was indeed a challenge. I had about 3 sessions I would have deemed worthy, but the Modular only presents a greater challenge for a perfectionist. I certainly do not have the skill or confidence yet to occupy #15. Based on Dragonborn's post with the final mix, I feel it was a bit rushed, and given the amount of time spent waiting...well, it is kind of a letdown that it was a little rushed.
I'll take a copy of the CWJ5 finished project with me tomorrow, and see if I can get a clean mix from it....... this is certainly a challenge for sure.... Give me a few days, and I'll kick something back.....
Yes. Which instrument?

Oh PCM. Mwhahahahahahahhahaha, That is I mean I'm glad to accept.

say what? Sure I'll do the Vocoder..... doesn't scare me.... So does that make me #13? if so, then who would be #14?
I'll take 14 unless someone else has it.
That wasn't meant to sound so harsh, sorry. The volume level is the only issue... but that's what #15 is for.

Correct, you are on deck with the Vocoder, and Skynexia is #14.

Its been a long and rocky road this one, but its sounding good. Gonna be quite challenging to master I think.

That's two observations then...
Now you see what happens when you listen to my "good ideas", lol...proud of everyone who finished their track, and regret that I did not.

in a way, you are a bit like the sixteenth beetle.
Good luck with this one..... Maybe I'll take a crack at it if I get some free time....
