Trance Gate?

This is a question that has been asked a few times already on the forum but I'm not sure if it has been raised since the release of 3.1. Does anyone have any suggestions or presets that can do a "trance gate" through the Modular Synth? If I were to create some pattern automation in the modular I could port synths into it, or conversly send midi through the modular to the synth. Does anyone else here have any sort of 'optimum' or 'out of the box' way of creating different gate patterns?

Press play. Play some sustaining chords on the Padsynth. Write whatever rhythm you want with notes in the Modsynth.

http://www.singlecellsoftware

http://www.singlecellsoftware.com/node/4624 has a Caustic file with another technique involving side chaining machines together to a similar end, try them both smiley

I've grabbed Paulovki's today - looking forward to checking it out.

Here's a little Hack I

Here's a little Hack I figured out: Porting the Beatbox to the Vocoder.  Maybe I can have a proof of concept track uploaded soon to demonstrate its effect.

You can do it in any synth, including signal bussing into Vocoder and Modular..... Vocoder is unique as you can do some really interesting things all at once..... Check out Skarabee's Vocoder tricks videos on his Caustic resource page....

I could imagine to define

I could imagine to define music patterns in a particular synth (e.g. subsynth, PCM synth) and route the sound into the modular. The modular could do cutoff/resonance or volume modifications. For that purpose I would create a (single) automation pattern - the "trance gate". Patterns of both synths must be included into the sequencer track.

I've been having a great time

I've been having a great time messing with the TG.caustic file above. Love the technique, thanks for sharing it. I'm excited to use it in a track.

I've done it using a mod

I've done it using a mod synth.

Machine Input (generator) into a Pan module (misc).

Connect a mini LFO (generator) to the pan module (note sync off)

Just use the left output from the Pan module and put into the mono.

Nice trick....

Nice trick.... You can also do it in the original synth machine.... Select VolumeMod, Sawtooth, quarter note rate, and it will sync in at eighth note offset at quarter note intervals, adjust depth to taste.... Works well...

You can do it in any synth

You can do it in any synth using volume automation, althoigh it creates a nasty popping sound imo. I usually trance gate the whole track using master volume. Takes some experimentation to get it right but once you have mastered it it adds an extra effect to parts of your track if you wish... :)

I make creative EDM utilising Caustic and many other Daws. See for yourself on my SoundCloud, you may like it :) https://soundcloud.com/xandyaudio thanks!
