Goa Slicer technique

Caustic Song file (optional):

I was checking out Skarabee's incredible wizard videos about interesting ways to use the Vocoder and hit on an idea on how to use the Vocoder as a goa/trance slicer. I included a quick sample track demonstrating the idea.

It's basically the same idea as this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnxPAG7CJhQ

but instead I'm using the bassline synth to setup a *very* basic continuous bassline or melody, then using the vocoder triggers to establish the rhythmic pattern of the slicer. You can even use a couple vocoders to establish complimentary patterns and do different things with each vocoder (I used a multifilter and a side-chained compressor in the example .caustic file).

I hope this helps some folks out since goa trance really requires this kind of slicing effect to pull off.right. I'm sure it can be used elsewhere as well, like giving a tight rhythm to a pad or tied with the PCM synth to simulate a trigger on a sample offset.

Sure thing! The riff could

Sure thing! The riff could use lots of work, but I didn't want to fuss too much with it and lose the main idea.

Thank you, El Blanco! I have some other tips that I will share in video, concerning the modular, but no spare time actually. Stay tuned...

(one of this tip is focused on slice/gate/chopper effect)
