Not sure if this is the right section of the forum for this question...
I think I popped my last brain cell trying to get the Tom Sawyer growl. I think I have the concept, but it's not getting completely realized. Read tons on it, but was wondering if some has mastered it yet.
Anyone has learned to create the oberheim and mini moog sounds out of subsonic, modular or fm?
did you read all this?

according to the last one
All you need is a really thick, detuned synth (Saw-waves preferable) sound (see if theres any trance leads in operator) and a filter unit. Low Pass filter, and its just the cutoff for the filter slowly closing, so more frequency content is filtered out. Quite a high resonance curve on the filter.
modular seems to be the way to go in Caustic
or put this in the PCM

Thanks, I had read 2 out of the 3 links you posted. I'll keep at it.
it was made using Moog Taurus Bass pedals wasn't it?

Here is what I have so far with the Subsynth and Modular. I can almost hear it, but just a bit out of reach. Not sure if anyone can tell me what I am not doing correct.
I want to get down some of the Rush sounds to come out of Caustic. I figured I should start with their signature one... to then move to some of the others from the leads in Ton Sawyer, to Distant Early Warning, Subdivision all the way to 2112 sounds.

There is a tutorial in youtube using the Moog Taurus pedal, it helped but I get a bit lost in places. Some of the articles state that it was done using the Oberheim.
Maybe if you could post a clip of the sound you're trying to recreate, it would be easier to compare with your presets.
Sorry. I just noticed you already mentioned the song!!
I added an LFO for the fast modulation of the filter. Not perfect by any means, but maybe you can tweak it further.

Thanks... almost there. :-)
Hi,
I used the PCM Synth with the sample provided here! BTW, I created a DIY Moog Taurus using Caustic!

Oops wrong thread to post that, sir.
No, he is right Jason, the Taurus is used by RUSH in their music. :-)
I did make the Tom Sawyer sound in the SUBSYNTH.
Fui a tu blog, me gustó leer el proceso de crear ese pedal que parece que lo hicieron de caoba (mahogany).
Hey Chapaco would love if you did a video just showing how you did the midi keyboard!

Sorry about the above post!
Just saw the link to your blog...
