It's there on purpose..... Typically I would have no reverb at all on spoken vocals, but this was kind of showing off the DSP process with my Enhanced Reverb module.
But yes you can run this real time as well as resample if you wish. When audiotracking becomes reality, this tool will be golden. I will have other models and simplified models to save machine slots for other things.
I am curious to hear any tracks that any of you would make in the future using this model, if you record vocals or acoustic instruments... I know some of you out there do this, and I am confident this tool and other variants I have in the making, will serve well for this type of project.
I'm seeing this just in time; I've finished my instrumental and I'm ready to start recording a vocal track. I might have to record them separately in this preset and then export to .wav, and mix in Audacity... but I was already planning to just record .wav and mix in Audacity anyway; this will simply give me a better quality recording to work with.
It's not faster since I have the rest of the track already complete in its own .caustic file and would have to import something in one direction or the other; I was going to go into Audacity anyway and it isn't that much work - just drop the .wav file in alongside the other one and adjust the mix.
To clarify: Either way, I was going to record using the mic in my Toshiba Thrive tablet and export the resulting .wav to Audacity on the Windows 7 PC. The only thing I'm doing differently now is to use your vocal DSP.
Oh ok I see..... You would process it in BDSP and render to a wav to then take back into your actual song project. Well I'm interested to see how the final piece ends up.
Yeah, the plan all along was to export the mastered instrumental as .wav, and then mix it with the vocal in Audacity. You've just supplied a tool to hopefully record a better quality vocal track.
If I were going to do the whole thing "in camera" (all Caustic, no Audacity), I would have to either transfer all the instruments into the BDSP project file, or replicate the BDSP machines in the existing PENGUIN.caustic (that second option is probably the easier of the two).
AARGH, the audio recorder in Caustic only records about 20 seconds and then stops. I have to record in bits and pieces, a couplet at a time (my current song's tempo is 72bpm.)
"Audiotracking", if that means recording full tracks of .wav audio, has just moved to the top of my "Most Wanted Feature for the Next Version of Caustic" list.
Are you and EIPstudios Ohio the same person?
If you see my avatar, you will have your answer...
Alright now I know
Looks interesting, may try it out later :)
Eventually I will have variants of models depending on wants and needs, and keep machine spaces open if used in heavy projects.....
Interesting... I'll give this a go, I feel it's for resampling rather than real time.
Oh... and I think you've got a bit too much reverb on your voiceover! ;)

I am just getting warmed up here.
Thanks very much Jason for the File .
i have tried a few times to record from my GS3 ,,, but it just sounded so thin & tinny & crackly too ....
The Caustic Warrior WIZ_KID ;)

So how does it sound now?
In SHORT .... FREAKIN BRILLIANT ......
...... REALLY, I HAVE JUST RECORDED A FEW VOCAL TEST'S / CRYSTAL CLEAR '
AMAZING RESULTS . . .

You can make your own pop shield by putting your phone inside a pair of tights.

Yup, that's a good idea..... it does work, and circumstantially may not cost you a dime.

Thanks again Jason for outstanding R&D.
This method is faster to setup and use than the multiple steps you would have to take in Audacity....

Yeah, that makes my Vocal DSP "future-proof" because when full audio-tracking comes to Caustic, then this will really rock....
Arghhhhhh very [ interesting ] Jason / because when [full audio-tracking] comes to Caustic?
The name's Bond . . . . James Bond
When audio tracking out, when will we get notified and how?
Has it come out yet? It's june 2015 now.
