Waiting

A short track, because I had limited time wanting to finish it on site, made while having to spend the night at Atlanta international airport, missed our connecting flight to New Orleans by about three minutes due to loooong lines at customs and security.

Near abandoned airports at night can be very creepy..

Especially when the only one

Especially when the only one there in the picture is an unwelcoming security guard. ugh... the anxiety head chill of human unequality. creepy. :D

Sweet, thanks :)

Sweet, thanks :)

There are no people in the picture, maybe that's the cleaning cart you see? But there were some people scattered around here and there, cleaners, and some security, other people sleeping. Around 5 in the morning alarms was beeping and lights were blinking, telling us to be calm, but ready for anything, went on for about half an hour. Maybe they were just testing the alarm..

Creepy. And it somehow reminds me of Silent hill 3 game, especially the part in the metro station. Great :)

I've been in Moscow's

I've been in Moscow's Sheremyetova 2 airport twice where it was just about completely empty (other times it was moderately busy), it is an eerie feeling.

Nice mood you created here, BTW.... well done

Somewhere between four or

Somewhere between four or five hours. When inspiration comes, things usually come together fast. Wish I had a few more hours, then I could have made it longer. Being stuck in an airport isn't so bad with caustic as companion :) Glad you like it!

Really like it, as everyone

Really like it, as everyone else said really atmospheric...

I just wish it went somewhere, after the first 30 seconds its kinda done, was really hoping for some pads or stabs taking it somewhere.

And the beat feels right of centre a touch.

Good though!

I can hear the beat panned

I can hear the beat panned right off centre with better headphones, I put a slight width effect on it. I can correct it, but then I lose the width effect. I just exported a new version without width on the beat, maybe if I like that one more I replace audio file later. Thanks for noticing :)

You can fix it by nudging the pan. Happens to me all the time, just solo the drums, put you finger on the pan, close your eyes and get it centred.

Tried fixing it with pan,

Tried fixing it with pan, worked a little, also reduced width some. I just replaced the file, beat should be more centred now, may still be a little off, but less noticeable. Once I heard it, it started to irritate.

This is the previous version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7c9xfzxgee6ukjs/WAITING6.wav?dl=0

You've probably heard me

You've probably heard me advise heavily against using "width" on main drum line...... Phase problems.... There are other ways to get an atmospheric effect to it and keep the drums clean and center in your mix..... But thats just my little humble opinion about that....

Yeah I had width problems

Yeah I had width problems before. Care to share a few tricks? that'd be nice.

Yeah.... don't use it on

Yeah.... don't use it on drums and bass, and you're good to go. cheeky    Add a very short descreet stereo reverb on your drums and bass channels, for spacial depth.... but my next PocketKit project will be fully stereo with lots of new tricks up my sleeve, that may fit your work well in the near future.  I'm working on it right now as I type and re-listen to this track.

But it's so tempting to use

But it's so tempting to use lol. I used the two machine trick once, one panned left and the other right. Could try the reverb, maybe along with lesser mid tones, make it sound thinner.

don't use it is safe advice,

don't use it is safe advice, but I'm happy to use it, especially when I have 4 or more BB's running. I tend to use it when I add perc kits. Like Jason said I avoid it for  kickdrums and the main kit...
