"Belushi Cocktail (Ver. 2)"

This was originally done a while back and I didn't put a lot of time or effort into it, but upon listening to it again recently I liked it enough to go back and make a finished product.

I like the way you make is

I like the way you make is sound like you have a little bit of turntable wow/flutter at the end.

Again, your stuff just rocks, it hits a dark vibe in me that I love. Have you ever listened to Download... Furnace, Sidewinder albums?

What kind of samples do you use for these types of tracks? Are you using any subsynth?

Oh yeah, when I first read the title I thought I saw it as;

Belushi Cocktail (Ver. 2) - Custom Handbags and sushi

Hahaa! No but I will give you a free iPad if you click on the dancing kitty.

Download is awesome, I also get a lot of inspiration from Massive Attack, Portishead and Tricky. They all share that dark, chilled vibe I love so much. I am gonna have to check out Furnace & Sidewinder... I haven't heard any of their stuff yet.

The fx samples I use are mostly my own, cut from random songs & movies using Sonic Chop (great Android tool for chopping vocal samples too). The best collection of oneshot samples (for both perc and sound fx) I have is a compilation of soundpacks by ArtysTorrents. I have over 10GB of this guy's stuff and it is all top-notch. Most of my string instruments on PCMsynth began as part of Zvon's collections & heavily modded for different levels of creepiness and ominous vibes. I also use AudioVapor's stuff, Bigbeard & other users' presets. As far as drumkits, I always build them individually almost entirely from ArtysTorrents oneshots. On this track & many others the Subsynth is what I use for the bassline. The ultra-low, subwoofer-flexing bass I get out of that subsynth is just perfect for what I do. It can be sharp & punchy or a drawn-out super low boom that's great for my breakbeat tracks, but it's usually done from scratch. If I need more of a bass guitar sound, I usually use the PCMsynth with Bigbeard's or Zvon's instrument presets.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback! .

Ah just for giggles, Furnace

Ah just for giggles, Furnace and Sidewinder are albums of Download they did in the 90's before the main artist OD'd on smack.

Anyway, I will be a listener, plus your a bmer freak, ah we must be past life friends. ;-) You would have fit right into the group of friends I had in the 90's over in Seattle. I actually had a NIN sticker on the rear window of my 320.

I've got a white NIN logo on

I've got a white NIN logo on the back window of my M3! Its the only sticker on my car.
It's funny I Google'd Furnace & Sidewinder yesterday and the Download albums came up. I was like derrrp!

I didn't know that about the lead singer in Download. It doesn't surprise me though, with the rampant heroin abuse in the industrial/ synth music scene. This is a little disclosure but oh well- I spent 8 years of my 20's strung out on heroin & cocaine. Full-blown speedball junkie, overdosed several times & nearly died. In November it will be 3 years that I've been 100% clean. Working on music & cars has been like therapy.

I know this is OT but, as

I know this is OT but, as with any drug addiction really has to do with trauma. It sounds like you finally plugged your highly intelligent brain into a socket and your not short circuiting anymore.

I have been exposed to quite a bit of mental illness from the perspective of being the anchor and I can say there is always some type of trauma a human endures to start the brain short circuiting.

Anyway, I think this is why the universe gave us frigging music man! Get that juice out.

PS that is really freaking weird about the sticker, mine was the rectangle black and white one.

Andy,

Andy,

I've not listened to much industrial I have to be honest but I really like the way you put your tracks together, they always sound polished and well produced. I had wondered how you made them so thanks for the tips.

Glad you are in a better place

Thank you both, and sorry for

Thank you both, and sorry for not replying before, I just got back from Yosemite. Been out in the sticks, hiking, swimming & doing all the stuff I would've never ever done a few years ago.
@mike- You're very right about trauma inspiring art. It's the healthy outlet as opposed to medicating it. I've been drawing with pens, pencil & charcoal since I was a little little kid and I even gave that up during those 8 years just because I really couldn't feel anything.

Anyways, I'm glad you enjoyed the track!
