Caustic Song file (optional):
Looking to do a little collaboration project.
Here's how it goes. I will set up a track with the normal rock band set up, guitars, bass drum etc etc... So I will be looking for volunteers to take that one instrument for the whole song.
This is what I will be needing for players(writers) :
1. Rhythm Guitar - Strange Gravity
2. Lead Guitar - skarabee
3. Bass - stePH
4. Synth/keys - Skynexia
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorry guys... I'll be taking the drums.
So let me know if you want to be part of this experiment and what your interested in.
Comments /Questions welcomed.
Thanks for reading.
I would like to try. I can do guitar or keys. This sounds like fun:)
Pick one... :)
What style are you aiming for? Blues, heavy, jazz or just regular rock. I do not play guitar but can simulate one especially on keyboards. I'm guessing because I'm a keyboardist it will probably be best to put me on keys.
I'm primarily a bassist; I'd like to give this a try.
Nice, welcome...
Keys, single or dual? Most bands have more than one, so, let me know.
Creating the file.
Dual
I put two in there with your name, you can switch which two you will use.
I'd love to try mixing on this but im far to shy and unsure of my skills to really say something outright,and I don't want to mess everything up, but I'd like to try, I'd actually love too,
Lead guitar. Could I try this one?
geeeeetarrr please
I have uploaded the template. Look over it let me know if you have any questions.
All instruments are hooked to a modular for extra effects.
The rhythm Guitar is hooked to two mods each pan. I think this will give a richer sound.
Bass, I used a mod patch but you can change it to a pcm bass sound.
Again let me know if you have any questions.
The file will be bounced back and forth. The tempo is set at 129. I think this will make easier if we decide to slow down.
And thanks for being part of this.
Is the drum track in place already?
Don't know what others are planning, but I'd like to see what the chordal/harmonic structure is before starting to create a bass line. So I guess let the guitar or keyboard player start.
Do you want piano with this? Or just using the subsynth with 2 modulars?
kikkin it off
Caustic Song file (optional):
Nope no drum track.. Just a basic beat if needed. You can change the 2 synth with your name to what ever you would like to use.
Anyone can get something started... We can adjust... just let us know your working on it so we don't work against each other.
Well Strange started... Next?
SG you can add more effects. Including the 2 mods.
Nice start by the way.
So would it be ok for me to add piano or organ to what SG just created?
Yes.
I'll lay down bass after Skynexia is done then.
You need a vocalist (I'm not volunteering though).
My Soundcloud profile is _dredge_
Neither am I. I got two vocal numbers I'm working on already, and a third went on the list yesterday, and also I don't really write words any more ("These Minerals" and "Hobby Lobby" notwithstanding - both were based on existing songs to some degree or another.)
...but also, we don't need a vocalist. I'm sure the track is fine as an instrumental.
Let me know if this the style you are aiming for. If it isn't I can change it:)
Caustic Song file (optional):
We can go with it... Let's see where it takes us.
We can always change later.
Or do we want to define a sound?
Ok:). I'll wait until I'm up again and listen to what's being added and what direction its headed. Then I'll have a better idea on if I need to alter or change it.
I'll grab Skynexia's update tonight and put a bass part to it.
If you don't have a mixer/ masterer sign me up, I'm better with mixing than making loops
Nice track, but I'm failing to see the relevance to this thread.
I think it would be good for me to try anddo a group project, may I please do mixing?
There is now bass, alongside what the others have placed. Strangegravity, pattern A3 has a dissonant note at the bottom of the second G#m chord; is that an error or is it by design?
Caustic Song file (optional):
Nice... I'll take the file next.
Here's an update... Made the whole thing a bit longer. Feel free to move stuff around.
Caustic Song file (optional):
I'm working on it
I did think it seemed a bit short; but I figure StrangeGravity just set us up to start with with a little bit to riff on. (again SG, is that dissonant note deliberate? I wanted to move it up a semitone, but left it there in case you meant to do it.)
Looking forward to my turn coming around again.
Added a bridgy thing. Arrange as you please.
Caustic Song file (optional):
oh go ahead and fix that note. It sounds bad.
I'll go ahead and work on it more unless skarabee is ready to add something.
Really like the bridge SG. Would you think about adding some of the action / elements from the bridge to your previous work?
Like the phaser really enhanced your overall sound.
Well I went ahead and added a little. Not sure if I'm going to keep this sound in the subsynth. I will play around with other sounds until my turn is again.
Caustic Song file (optional):
I like it.
Ok, cool. I'll keep that sound then:)
Okay, later tonight I'll pull it down and add bass. (I'm in US Pacific time zone)
Doing some changes... Will have it to you in a bit.
I moved stuff around, guys feel free to move stuff if need be and provide feedback.
Great job so far.
Caustic Song file (optional):
Hey all I'm going to be off the grid from now till Sunday. I'll be on a boat drinking a lot
Don't fall overboard! We still need you to work on the track
Have fun... Lol... Yea, try to be safe.
