I just broke through another long period of creative block, sorry I haven't been around. Anyway, here's the latest... I've probably spent 4 months tooling around with it and the better part of the last 2 weeks really getting down on it, automating, fine-tuning, re-writing etc. The primary beat and a vocal sample are from one of my old C2 tracks, "Mushroom Cloud Dispenser". Everything else is new.
I put a great effort into making the instruments work and flow together. This required a hell of a lot of experimentation with different synths/ effects and some painstakingly careful & deliberate automation. I think I achieved some good synergy between various sounds on this one to create a sort of "power groove". And as prescribed by my doctor, it's dark & nasty.

Great tune man... Nice to see you again!
Thank you! It's been a long time in the making.
Man, so much has happened since I've been around here... Got in my first car accident, some other bad things and one really, really good thing.

hmmmmmm...... soundcloud track is blank.... that's weird, I can't see anyones' SC tracks in S&T, just "loads" and only displays the SC logo in the middle
Good to see you back AB, how you been?
I tried to upload a new song right now and it says soundcloud servers at down. Who knows?
Ahhhh there it is.... Very cool and mystic. Well done as always sir
I've had a lot of trouble with SC today, especially on my phone... Someone must be hacking it for my nudes. I'm a celebrity
Glad to be back Jason. It's been a roller coaster of bad and good with some on/off periods of depression and isolation for the last 3 months. I'm pretty stoked right now though, just won a rather big settlement from a case that's been an ongoing battle for almost four years. And since I lack discipline the first thing I'm going to do is get a kick ass shiny new sports car

Hi AB, nice to see you back on track :). Nice re-use of the beat there, I loved the original track but this one is even better. Your beats are always top notch IMO, so much adrenaline and energy. Personally I don't have enough patient to get all those little details and variations in my drums, too eager to get into the main song and melody I suppose but I love it when others do. Welcome back...
hey!
wow that sounds very energetic! i would love to hear more from you!

Yeah I get pretty obsessive with my beats. It always starts out simple but I fill up those pattern banks quick once the song begins to write itself. I'm a total beat-fiend

Question: do you tend to pick out your sounds as you build the track, or do you try and put together a palette of sounds you think work well together right from the start? I'm assuming that either way, you add/remove machines/sounds as you feel you need to, I'm just curious how you usually start a new work.
