My cover of the slightly rapey holiday song "Baby it's Cold Outside", based on the Leon Redbone/Zooey Deschanel version from Elf. Featuring my wife Nancy singing the Zooey Deschanel part.
I did an alternate vocal take wherein I attempted my best Leon Redbone imitation; I may record and release that one as well, with the ZD part sung by myself as well (as she sings it just within my range; the highest note is the same as the highest note in "The Monster Song".)
Nancy really didn't want to do this, but did it anyway. She will sometimes sing along with the radio but hasn't done any real singing since she was in school. I still think she sounds pretty good. A lot of the notes are flat but her tone is better than mine on this track.

She's listened to the track and hates it, and asked me to take it down from teh PhizBuk (done) and remove references to her - which involved renaming the link to the track. Hope this still works.
...fun fact: Nancy sang along to the original track, slowed down to tempo match my arrangement. She didn't feel comfortable singing along to an instrumental.
Smart man, doing what you did to make her happy what she asked you to do.
But hey, you pulled it off, and this should qualify for the Caustic Christmas Challenge, that has revived again this year....
Agreed with Jason. I will treat this as part of the challenge anyway, is it downloadable Steph?
It is downloadable. Every cover version and remix that I do is downloadable; it's only my few originals that are not.
I was going to record the Zooey part myself last night for the alternate version, but watched last week's Constantine instead.
I might do a vocoder version instead of, or in addition to, singing the Zooey part myself.
She said she has access to some autotuning apps and asked me to provide her with the recording, which I have. Maybe she'll be able to rework it into something she can live with, and I'll update the track.
I still think that even with all the wrong notes, her voice sounds better than mine.
Mmmmm i will tell you that autotune will not perform the way you expect given the recording......
You typically need to be within 25 cents of pitch unless you have a key and scale set up, which may give more flexibility. Not sure how a mobile version of the effect would perform
I really don't know anything about Autotune except that it's ruining a lot of pop music these days (actually to be fair, those songs were ruined before they were autotuned :-P )
This was realy fun StePH . I love to listen to duets. Some realy wonderful ones on SC.
I am watching CONSTANTINE also - LOVE IT!!!!

She pointed me to this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chmodsoft.perfectvocal
However, it's made for recording into the app, not for importing existing recordings. Although there's a workaround; you can rename an existing recording to match a filename in the app's folder and replace that file.
I tried it out last night and I got all T-Pain up in this bitch. Turns out the default setting was at "Most Robotic".
It's no good for fixing her vocal though; you were right Jason. But I might share some blame for that; I've begun to suspect that the recording I had her sing to, does not match the key of my track. Will investigate tonight.
As a last resort I could fix it for you with melodyne, but I'm quite busy at the moment so it will take a while before I can dig in to it.
