New caustic dubstep track

Alright caustic family, here's the final update of the track until we release the collaboration. I fixed a lot of mixing errors and changed up the drops slightly. It's pretty much brick walked but nothing is ridiculously over compressed. I applied some loudness techniques as well and therefore it's much louder than the previous releases. If anyone would like to remix, re-approach, or simply download this track for listening please let me know and I'll send you a personal link. Thanks for the kind words and support guys! You're all appreciated and all around awesome!

-Divisionary

Initial statement:

New brostep track W.M.D featuring Mr.Shrammi. yes I realize bro step is meant to be derogatory but just like any prejudice slur, it loses its power if it's embraced.........totally kidding, I really don't care. Dubstep, bro step, 2 step......the devil..... call it what you will, it's fun to make. Orchestrated solely in caustic 3.1. It's still a work in progress. Mr Shrammi's vocals need to be to be adjusted slightly regarding timing. It's a little tricky to set a time signature to a tempo in caustic, or I'm just oblivious as to how to do so. Feel free to comment/critique. Please refrain from mixing tips unless they are advance professional tips.....totally sounds cocky, not my intentions. I will most likely be putting the final mix through professional mastering software when my pc comes back from body repairs. I am fully aware of the mud, stereo phasing, all around nasty stereo image, unwanted timing errors etc...moving forward, any tips on instrumentation, science behind a solid dubstep drop, proper layering (if any) in terms of dubstep , so on and so forth, are greatly encouraged! :-)

Very nice work!!

Very nice work!!
Definitely smooth from start to end~
Would be a bit more crispier if you'd add more reverb/delay to the sounds.~

I heard it a few times, I enjoy dubstep and I liked yours very much. What did you use to create the lead?

Improvements? Not that they are required, but maybe some of the sounds need to be a bit louder and maybe some of the transitions, I find it more relaxed rather than in your face brostep. cool

Thank you! I appreciate your feedback. I agree that slight aux effects are needed to add some noise detail on the high end. I'm posting the mix fixes (in one song or lump some) as I'm typing this comment. I was able to fine tune the timing with the new Vulcan wav editor. There are some pretty cool features added. I love the add silence feature along with the animated spec analyzer.

Nice work. I'm not much of a dubstep fan but I do like the bass in it. I also listened to the updated version on SoundCloud and it sounds better. Sounds like you have a handle on things mixing wise so no comment there. I'm curious to see what you create in the future once you have fully explored Caustic.

Thank you for your input! I

Thank you for your input! I used Subsynyh to generate the lead. I use Subsynyh for the majority of dubstep sounds. I love wave table synthesizers because they are capable of generating a grocery list of synthesis. FM is probably the feature I utilize most. I've been trying to share my presets on the forum yet I keep getting s failure to open message.

If you want to achieve the same lead our something similar here are a few tips for quick creation.
·Assign saw tooth waves to osc 1&2
·Set the frequency range to fm and the turn the dial to about 19:00 hours.
·Set the mix to favour osc 1 adjust to your ear
·Pitch the second oscillator up 2 to 3 octaves.
·Set lfo wave shape to saw tooth, assign a cut off to lfo 2 and a high pass to the main filter.
·Assign the cutoff position to sound 100-130 Hz and turn resonance almost up all the way to give you low freq vibrations.
·Turn the depth of lfo 2, 45% and the speed from a range between 80-100% gain. You can add a slower osc 2 to lfo one for more movement if necessary. Here's the mix fix for my track.

Thanks mekanism! I suppose I

Thanks mekanism! I suppose I am pretty new to caustic being that I first discovered it during its initial 3.0 release. At first I didn't have a pc so caustic was my only source for creation aside from physical instruments. It's safe to say that I'm more of a producer than a musician. I wouldn't be nervous behind a mixing console. Sitting in as a studio musician gave me the bubble guts which persisted for the first hour or two, every time. I'm glad I was able to utilize the new wav editor for the volca sample editor. The timing of the vocal track was driving me crazy. It's still flawed but it's listenable now. Can't wait to get my pc back so I can fine tune. Our maybe I'll just knuckle down and enhance my proficiency with caustic.

Yeah. I typically don't hang

Yeah. I typically don't hang out on forums much our even visit them. I was on the dubstep forum for years and became totally sick of the attitudes that the majority of them had. It's actually how I came up with the name divisionary. The true steppers couldn't stand skrillex style dubstep. Therefore, they couldn't stand my tracks lol. I had posted one preset on this forum a while ago under the username divisionarian. It was for Subsynyh and it was called tree ear piercer. Not long after that I became enamored with production, and simply didn't have time for anything else. But the attitudes of users on this forum are much more suitable for my personality. Everyone I've talked to herehad been really cool and refreshingly helpful.

Yeah this board isn't like most of the others. There are too many prima donna's on other boards I have been on. Most of us here are easy going and willing to help each other no matter music taste. I can't say I like Skrillex either but I do respect what he has done to bring edm more mainstream in the U.S. Also, there's no denying he makes some crazy basses that people are still trying to emulate. Please feel free to share some knowledge, especially bass patches/sound design for us fellow bassheads.

I'm personally a big fan of Skrillex, particularly tracks like Ruffneck & Bangarang (although couldn't really get into the latest album 'Recess') and I think you've got some amazing Dubstep sounds out of Caustic with this track Divisionation, it sounds great!

Sounds like a plan mekanism. I'm assuming that the tips and tricks section of the forum would be the appropriate place to post bass tutorials and other synth developments/sound designs. I'll start a new bass thread soon, once I figure out what has design is sought after and difficult to produce. Or at least some helpful tips. It should be fun.

Thank you! One thing I can

Thank you! One thing I can say in regards to skrillex is that, I have never came across anyone that doesn't respect his abilities. On the dsf they would bad mouth the general sub genre and curse skrillex for its creation, but not once say that he's horrible. Recess was a bit hard to follow. There are a couple tracks that were pretty sick though e.g I'm going to try it out and all is fair in love and bro step. I don't know what it is about Jamaican rambling but it pumps me up. I personally don't feel that skrillex is a dubstep producer to be honest. I feel that he's an electro producer that applied electro sounds to half time-time signatures. That's just my take on it though and it's definitely up for interpretation.

Yeah tips and tricks section

Yeah tips and tricks section is probably the best place for a bass thread.  I was thinking of the same thing recently of starting a bass thread but I havent really made that great of bass patches yet, not for lack of trying mind you.  Maybe by getting more people working on it we can get some cool basses going.  Also, if you havent tried the new volca editor I recommend it for sound design as you can mangle audio infinitely as Rej has added insert effects.

Yes!! I was worried that the new editor would not work unless synced with the hardware. Yet, it did.....and it's fantastic. I actually downloaded it on Saturday. It's what have me the inspiration to fix Mr Shammi's timing. You must have seen the spec analyzer? Huge step forward for sound design! It's going to be easy to get carried away with effects. It's probably something for young producers out there to keep in mind, that being minimal with effects isn't a bad policy. That is of coarse if you don't want to create white, pink, Brown, metallic, high metallic, tubed, ac power, or any other type of noise possible. Otherwise effect away. None of the three previous sentences were aimed towards you mekanism, btw. You seem to have a solid understanding of sounds so I anticipate that you have had time to marinate...so to speak.

Sure Jason! It never hurts to have more than one mind when producing dubstep. It's such an orchestrated chaos that having another perspective is almost a necessity. I will probably have to send you some of the third party samples that I used as well. I'll put a zipped sample pack together for you if you need it. Let me know. Thanks for the well regard.

I love that it's self contained. That's one of the short comings of FL studio. It becomes slightly tedious at times.

As a matter of fact I've been getting so many requests for the project file for the purpose of remixing, I'll just upload it right here. Anyone that is checking this thread out can download it to remix using their own styles. Any style goes! If yo upload it to soundcloud just be sure to credit me and licence under creative commons. If you remix it, be sure to send me a link so I can listen to your take on it. I'm interested to see where your creativity takes you with it. Give me about ten to fifteen minutes to upload. Thanks!

Btw, I went dark for a bit. I had some personal matters to attend to. Therefor, I apologize for getting back to some of you, late.  Also, if you're interested in my sound check out my most recent creation in Caustic,  Start wearing purple by Gogol Bordello: A Divisionary remix. Thanks again and I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys can come up with for the remix.

licensing note: Be sure to define it as creative commons if you upload to soundcloud and define me/Divisionary as the original artist/producer.

Epic dude!

Man, I am definitely regretting my leave of absence. This overwerk is AWESOME! I just recently started getting into trap style stuff. As a matter of fact I've been trying to branch out into the Drum and Bass world. Dubstep is still fun to make though. Those kicks are super solid! I love the ambient arp you have supporting the low end. It gives it a well rounded dynamic! Great job man!! Freaking brilliant! Sorry I'm so late in checking all this stuff out. I feel pretty lame for that. All you guys are cool as hell, I just got caught up in my own shit I suppose.

Yeah Div, DnB and Dubstep

Yeah Div, DnB and Dubstep kind of go hand in hand. I'm totally addicted to producing it now, just so much fun! But it is probably the hardest genre to produce as its so fast, the compressors and other effects go out of sync more often.
