'New Year' - completely different for me (kind of)

Caustic Song file (optional):

Something short and sweet to welcome in 2015 - pianos, jazzy drums, mellow growling modular bass.

Not sure why, but whenever I decide to create something away from my normal sound, I tend to choose the piano as the backbone.

This track has two pianos - one laying out the chords, and then a heavily processed piano playing the melody/counter melody.

Started yesterday, finished today smiley Heavily based on patterns recorded live with my midi keyboard but with plenty done in step time too.

4 machines in total.

Big thanks to user 'Atte' for the jazz kit from the Causticpack of presets he made available on SCS.

It's good, I think it's the right length too, if it can gone on I think it would have started to sound very samey unless you took it somewhere else. The offbeat piano upsets me to the point that I like it. Often that's the sort of thing I struggle with, most of my stuff is nailed to the beat with big ass pins.

thanks everyone - I think it

thanks everyone - I think it's my best attempt at 100% fake 'real drums' - all programmed in step time, but I turned quantise off and dragged a few hits slightly off the beat.

The pianos are mainly real - which explains the offbeat feel laugh

I forgot to adjust quantise when I recorded so everything is locked to 16ths, I should really have tried 32nds or 64ths.

I think that's where I got

I think that's where I got the idea from smiley

I don't normally bother when I'm making 4 to the floor grooves but it really helps on the rare occasions that I want a more natural feel.

Well that was pretty great, lovely feel you've got into it. and love the drums on this, also I think it's fantastic how you've shown you can get very different sounds and feels out of this great app ( is divergent one of the modern buzz words?)...

Listened to Sacrebleu!, G-Stoned Book, Dehli9, and Verve Remixes (part 1) yesterday and was considering doing some snazzy acid jazzy. But, you sir, are my inspiration. Thanks.

Great track too! Very smooth. I need to raze my style too.
