automate effects?

hey! i hope there is no other topic here, because i couldnt find something.

i have a problem: everytime i want to put an effect on just one part of my song in the sequencer, it puts the effect on every other part too. i set it to song mode, and then marked the beginning and the end of the section where i want the effect and turned it on. is there something that works? because i cannot automate the on/off button on the effects rack.

i hope you can help me.

Assuming you are referring to

Assuming you are referring to the insert effects, no you cant automate the the on off buttons.  You have to automate the WET knob for the section of the song you want the effect on.  On other effects that dont have a WET knob you have to choose, based on effect, what you want to automate.  Another way to use effects without using automation is to use the Modular with a machine input on it and then automate the volume, input, or output knobs either on the machine itself or modules or by using pattern automation.  I like the pattern automation method as then you can just add patterns wherever you want the automation to be.  Play with the Modular for a while if you havent already.

i tried to raise the button

i tried to raise the button when i wanted the effect on, but when i did it, the effect was the same over the complete pattern all over the song. i jumps always to the level where i put it before, even if i turn it to zero to dont have a effect on the other parts.

Have you gone into the song

Have you gone into the song automation section where you can draw in your automation?  I'm not talking about pattern automation on the machine, but rather there is a whole other section that contains song automation.  To get to it go to the song sequencer, press the numpad looking button twice, then tap on the machine display to the right of it to get to the fx section which will then list on the left what you have automated.  Whats happening I think is that you did the song automation on the effect using the record function and then turned the knob up, but now the rest of the track has the knob at zero overriding anything else you try to do.  Its best to draw in song automation using the automation page.

Check out either the videos

Check out either the videos on YouTube or the written manual on the home page for more info. Rej did an incredible job explaining things in his videos. They are a great resource. I have been using caustic for years and still need to reference the vids from time to time.

Also, something I do every

Also, something I do every time I automate is to hit record, then just tap the parameter I want to automate without moving it. This will trigger an entry into the automation lane without adjusting anything, making it easier to see where the original setting is once you start automating and doesnt introduce unwanted points in the automation. Also, for pattern automation I do the same thing but you can tap more than one parameter at a time while the record button is on triggering multiple automations. This saves you from having to page back and forth between the automation page and the machine page recording automations each time. Don't forget to turn off the record button after doing all of this. To delete automation for a parameter press record and double tap the parameter you want deleted then turn off record.
