Builderz Ambient Makeover and Bonus sounds

Builderz Ambient is going to have a makeover and a nice update with more presets and even bigger moods and textures than ever...

Here's a sneak peek.    --- Edge of Eterninty --     Caustic 2.1 (beta5 at least or Official Release) REQUIRED to load and use this preset

Ok, made this preset in RC3, and played around with a few other things that have been in recent discussions.... no issues no problems found at this time.

If anyone has any problem loading or function with this preset, feel free to post with this thread. I'm trying some new things here, and I think it will work, and Builderz packs in the very very near future will totally rock with Caustic 2.1 as I am set to open the floodgates with the biggest most unique packs yet, guaranteed to put big smiles on many Caustic Warriors' faces here and beyond.

-- Builderz Jungle -- Elementals 3 -- A part of a series of various music and FX elements crammed into single PCMSynth presets, allowing you to create custom moods and grooves, leaving the other 5 machines open for more sounds and drums etc...

-- Builderz Ambient NEW -- Out There -- This is a big one folks, mysterious textures and echoing chimes, with a massive drone sound smahsed in the middle.

Thick Stereo Delay is highly recommended

Do you know, why one needs

Do you know, why one needs caustic 2.1 to load the new presets? Has the data format of the files changed in the new release? Thanks for your answer.

Best regards, Carl-Alex

I'm pretty sure the format or

I'm pretty sure the format or well the "ability" to load older presets has NOT changed.

The only thing that has changed is the new bassline presset and Beatbox presets get archived with their samples now. Other than that, if you are experiencing problems Jason, should posta  bug because Rej and I have had extensive conversations about formats and not breaking them, backwards compatability etc.

I can tell you this is Rej's 1st priority.

As far as loading a new stuff in old software, tell me who does that? As a software developer, you always ADD things but maintain backwards compatibility, this is probably why newer presets won't load. (I havn't tried to myself).

It seems that this is how Rej

It seems that this is how Rej set it up, creating content in newer versions in some aspects will not properly load or function in older versions of Caustic (try to load a song or something created in v2.0.2 into a 2.0 build or 1.0 build, will not work, you will get a message asking you to update.

On top of which, after testing out 2.1beta, why would you settle for just 2.0.2?   This new build is a huge improvement in so many ways, you wouldn't want to look back.

FWIW, loading old content into 2.1beta, never an issue.... loading new content and songs into older 2.0.2 not going to work according to Rej's design.

just sayin...

Jason,

Jason,

As a software developer myself, being able to load new data structures in and older product just dosn't happen! :)

It's a programming paradigm and really is like saying, ok I have a compact disk, how come I can't play the compact disk on my record player! I know I can still play a compact disk I bought today on a cd player I got in 1994. But this is becasue ther version of change is close enough.

It's a reality in life.

I never said it was a problem

I never said it was a problem, someone else questioned it, I tried to respond appropriately.  No problems here, just informing the world, that all Builderz presets and packs from this day forward will require 2.1 build to function. cool

I thought it was mentioned in an earlier beta thread somewhere, or should be mentioned, that anything that has been created be it presets or songs in this testing project will not load or function in the 2.0.2 currently offered in the market.

Jason,

Jason,

I'm just talking, hehe mainly to the person that asked the question above, I know you understand. This is why in software, you keep your products availible at each revision step but mark older versions as deprecated.

By offering your 2.0 version and 2.1 versions, you include all of your user base. At some point in time you will wnat to discontinue old versions... or not it's up to the distrubutor which in this case is you. smiley

Transitions are tough no

Transitions are tough no doubt, but this transition is much better, and eventually it'll all make sense to everyone.  All currently offered packs at the GPS are in fact compatable with 2.0.2 and 2.1 builds

New demos and future Builderz Project packs will only be 2.1. cool

I'll just step around Jason

I'll just step around Jason and Mike having their little dance here. wink

To answer your question directly: Yes, Carl-Alex, the data format for PCMSynth files has changed for v2.1.

JBlann is just releasing his stuff early knowing that people here who can see it probably have access to the beta.

Right, for others; this is because the presets are now made in 2.1.
