Terrestrial Anomaly - Drums... Lots of Drums... Techno Tribal... A bit like One Direction really

So I've taken the comments on board from my previous upload and gone to town with it.

We now have more variation, bigger drums, nastier 303s and other sweeps and pads gating like a .... like a.... um... gate... on a farm... that is busy... or something...

So listen, comment, let me know what you think.

Cheers, Rob.

Great song... Really makes

Great song... Really makes the drums the center of attention. Like those "flams" on the drums. Gives it that live feel.

Would you like to do a collab track of a drum circle? Email me and let me know.

Again really nice job.

Excellent work, so much movement and power - the drums and 303 just nail it for me, the automation is sweet blush

Wow RobF, this project has really morphed into something quite solid.   I know you've been putting tremendous effort into your music lately.  This is probably one of your finest Caustic pieces to date.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty pleased with it, the only thing I'm considering adding is some kind of voice over, I tried some stuff but it just sounded corny as hell so dropped it.

I videoed him telling a story whilst sitting on the toilet, it was quite funny in that he refused to tell the story on video!

I am truly impressed by AngledSocks. Some beautiful tracks there.

The only thing I don't like so much is something I don't know what to call or how to describe. You know when you automate something in Caustic that makes volume of any given instrument go up and down, or the use of flange or wah wah or any distortion which produces a similar effect? Yeah, I think that is overused to death in electronic music and may get in the way of creativity.

Still, this is a project that deserves a record deal, fame, tours, groupies and blow etc.
(just kidding)

Keep beating.

Luc, sounds like you're

Luc, sounds like you're describing side chaining compression or something similar. Side chaining means that the volume output of one channel is linked to another channel, but as an inverse. Not sure how much Rob has used that here, if it all, but the Master Limiter may also kick in if the overall output volume is too high.

Similar but different, I think a lot of the FX in Caustic are linked directly to the tempo in some shape or form...maybe you can hear that too.

I use the phaser a lot on a really slow rate which gives that building up and down filter effect, which I accept is a bit clichéd but I love the sound of it.

Compressing I rarely do. The 303 is however heavily compressed so you can push the volume up to hear the muted filter but won't clip when the filters open up.

Sorry I don't have the same reference points of a lot of you guys, and still not much experience using Caustic, but for what it's worth....I think this is excellent, agree with the comments about the drums really powering the track, and also agree about the Matrix ref...Really good...

Can tell you put a lot work into this one; I like how the drums move around the pulse and how you obviously took out the microscope to keep your hits fresh. Cheers, man.

Thanks guys, I never expected

Thanks guys, I never expected this one to be quite as popular as it is! Clearly doing something right here! Anyway, this will probably be the last tune I write before I go on vacation at the end of the month.

I'm going to load up my phone with a bunch of exciting presets for my downtime in the sun!

Well, in between running around after a 3 year old, splashing in the pool and climbing temples.

Thanks, it's really just a

Thanks, it's really just a matter of whacking drums on the grid! The flams are the only thing I switch off the quantise for, everything else is nailed on the beat. I think the trick (for want of not blowing smoke up my own arse) is understanding drumming, and being a drummer I've whacked the crap out of enough drums to know what beats sound good.

Also it's worth studying, two example of people who do really good drum 'battles' live are Phil Collins (sorry but he is an awesome drummer even if he is about as interesting as dry shit) and Dave Grohl in live Foof gigs.

Damn you! Every time I see

Damn you! Every time I see this post Boss Drum gets stuck in my head. I love that album so much that I've a photo folder, on the Facespace, called Motivate the Rhythm of Life. It's contents are all music related.

Motivate the rhythm of life with a cultural revival this is survival natural patterns of percussion at your discretion so listen up connected to the powers that be with the healing rhythmic synergy techno tribal a positively primal shamanistic artistic archaic revival
Activate the rhythm. The rhythm that has always been within you.

There...it's gone for now.

+1 on Phil Collins and

+1 on Phil Collins and drumming. I've watched him perform live.... Sing and tear it up on the drums simultaneously. Impressive.

Again, good work RobF, enjoy your vacation with your family.
