hi -
i need some help - when i create a pattern in any of the formats - subsynth / beatbox etc and apply specific effects to a pattern - but then when I add them to the sequencer - the effects seem to all changed to the last effects used - spoiling all the previous patterns
Is it the case that you cant add effects until you have fiinished the whole song sequence - in which case limited to similar effects for the whole song - i understand you can record but its not great in terms of hitting the right effect on cue...
so to clarify - can you create a series of patterns that all have a different effect overlays without having to use the record function
thanks
ben
What effects are you trying to "apply" to your patterns? The insert effects and master effects are done in the mixer, not in pattern editors. You automate effects and other functions, but again not in the pattern editor qt this time.
Or are you trying to do something different to the pattern?
apologies i am a newbie to this - depsite having benna dj in london for 20 years - now i am getting old i want to create -
anyway -
i create a pattern a1, then go the mixer to add the effects - then i add the pattern to the sequencer - all sounds perfect - then i create a new patter say a2 on the same synth - i go to mixer - add effects, then add to sequencer - but when i play back the two patterns in the sequencer in song mode - a1 and a2 - the effects will have changed over a1 - to be a2 effects
does this make sense ?
thank you for helping -
Hi bendear.
That is how it is designed to work
The effects are applied globally to the individual synth NOT the individual patterns
Since you are a DJ think of it like this:
you have a turntable and a CD player through a mixer and you are mixing them in a club
on the turntable you lower the pitch so that tempo matches a song on the CD.
Consequently EVERY song on the turntable's record album would be lowered by the same amount.
The turntable is representing a synth
the song on the vinyl record is representing a pattern.
the 'lowering of the pitch’ is representing an effect.
Now do you see how it works?
I hope that helps.
The record function would be used for automation.
Watch this video and it will all make sense.

got it -
i am right in thinking then that with the record function you can apply variables to the specific sync through out the course of the sequence - but only for that one ( or two ) effects.
last question - to download additional expansion packs - the usb is knackered on my playbook - i can do file transer via a vpn - but its a hassle - is there a playbook expansion pack due anytime soon ?

can you access your downloaded files on the playbook (mine is out of charge so I can't check right now). If so, just download straight from here (or the 3rd party providers) and extract/move them with a file browser.
Thank you!!! :-)
