Caustic Song file (optional):
This tutorial looks at how you can use Patterns in Caustic as a way to create variations of a default preset within a single machine. It shows how you can create "Preset Patterns" and work with them independently of "Note Patterns".
It might not seem intuitive at first, but keeping "Preset Patterns" and "Note Patterns" separate can be pretty useful. For example, you could create a melody or a recurring motif with a ModSynth pattern, and set it up to send notes to a SubSynth that has multiple "Preset Patterns" and switch among them during your song. As you insert patterns in SONG MODE, you could have the same ModSynth pattern playing throughout, but pair it with different SubSynth "Preset Patterns" to change the sound that the notes are triggering.
Hummmmm keep going. U got my attention.
Ok ok ok i had two re-watch this houdini trick twice. Cause i 'm lost as why would machine input in the modsynth. And delete the note value in the subsynth machine. Cause whatever u put in the modsynth will transfer over.
right???
And if u got rid of the subsynth or change the subsynth sound. I still gonna effect the modsynth input. Sooo where would this be totally functional inna trk? I'm curious? As could i mode the sound better???
Like i kinda sea dat u created a ghost sound u can show was there. And still is. But dat was there. Was there is the key for me.... cause i'm waiting for more of the magic trick mr. Houdini.
He's doing it "Builderz Style"..... I like the unique approach to using Caustic in ways it wasn't really originally intended to be..... Whew, glad I'm not the only one
Rock on, JFM
Yeah, rad. Great inspiration for ways to fatten lines.
Thanks Jason! I'll have to check out the Builderz stuff some time. When I do these videos, it's always in the back of my mind that someone probably has already done something similar (or better!). With so many users and so much sharing of ideas and techniques, there's a good chance that something that's a "eureka moment" for me is probably old news to some other users. So I roll the dice, and hopefully there are more users who get some benefit from the tutorials than there are users who are thinking "been there, done that". It's all good. Caustic is still amazingly deep - there's always gonna be something new to discover.
