Piano sound in Caustic 2

Hello!

First time user here. Bought the app, awesome! First time I've ever hooked on a software like this (used others like Fruit Loops and such, but the steep learning curve prevented me from continuing them).

Anyways, I'm trying to create a grand piano-like sound but nothing seems right. Any advice?

And is there a way for me to create my own soundbanks (not sure what is it called) that I can use?

Cheers!

Hi C-Fu, if you search the

Hi C-Fu, if you search the 'net for "free piano soundfont" you might find what you're looking for. While you can certainly create a full piano set yourself in the PCMSynth, there are lots of soundfonts out there already that will sound fine in the PCMSynth, just watch the size, this is a mobile device...

Hey man,

Okay I found some (it's in .SF2 file right?), but where do I put them?

Cheers

You can place them anywhere

You can place them anywhere on your sd really, but easiest is just to put them in /caustic/presets/pcmsynth/. That way they will show up in the default list when you press the preset selector in the PCMSynth and you won't have to browse for them.

The subsynth only loads

The subsynth only loads presets created within the app. (it's just the knob positions)
The beatbox loads presets too, but those presets are a lilst of various WAV files. As long as they are 16bit, the beatbox will load any WAV file so you can easily create your own presets. Use the little button under each channel's sample display to load your samples.

For SoundFonts:http://www

For SoundFonts:
http://www.hammersound.net/ <-- still the biggest source of free ones
http://soundfonts.homemusician.net/ <-- another good one
http://www.sf2midi.com/soundfonts/ <-- requires creating an account(free) but worth it.

For WAV samples:
http://www.freesound.org/ has lots of free samples

a lot of sites and blogs have giveaway WAV samples as part of bigger promotions.. googling will point you to lots of those.
Here's one good I found found:
http://bedroomproducersblog.com/category/sample-packs/free-sample-shootout/ <-- check out the drum machine page, lots 'o drums in there.

I did not know that! Thanks! I have tons of drum sounds and was thinking of working with the PCMSynth, but this just changed it all. Once again, Caustic 2 has little hidden crevices of rich deepness I need to keep exploring!

Importing WAV into Beatbox

First of all this is whole program AMAZING! I've not seen anything else out there on the Android market that comes close. I paid for the full app last night.
I didn't even use the demo, the screenshots and reviews were enough to convince me that this was the start of something awesome.
But I need some help. I don't understand where to drop in WAV files for them to work in Beatox or PCMSynth. When I long-press the play/preview button on a Beatbox sample track it doesn't give me the option to load a sample like you explained on another page somewhere. How do I import them, or don't I need to? I've checked that they are 16bit. Am I putting them in the right folder? SD:\caustic\samples\beatbox
