Caustic Song file (optional):
Just a quick update to say that this is my first tune on soundcloud to get over a hundred plays. Now play it again lol
This is the finished version of The Test Worked, from the Ex Machina soundtrack by Geoff Barrow and Ben Salisbury. I wanted to do a dirty sounding version but got caught up in emulating the original and ran outta machines, so here it is. Hope you like. It's another different style for me, which is my way of working out new ways to sculpt the sound. Gonna try flamenco techno next lol
Superb, I love this track. Drones and pads are fantastic ! I'll look in the file : sure I'll learn things !
It makes me want to see the film !

Thanks dude. It took a lot of analysis and I still didn't bring the the subsynths out enough but I'm still pleased with the result. Still working on it but without the atmosphere bit at the beginning cos believe it or not, that used 7 machines to create the layers.
As for the film, it's very good, more thought provoking the usual rise of the robots yarn, but a big part of it for me was the music.

The knife sound is just a tambourine reversed and then played forward, pitched down with reverb. What I actually wanted was something like the sound of a metal clang, like you hear in shipyards or building sites. It's not a complete tune. The second part I want to flesh out and explore but I used at least 7 machines doing the ambient bit so it will have to be in two parts. But thanks for the feedback dude
