Cheers dude. Totally virgin territory for me. Trance is a walk in the park for me really, I know where elements should come in but dnb is difficult for me. So many different layers but I'm determined to make it work

Nah dude, it's a collaboration between Ed Sheehan and Rudimental. The original is a dnb version but he also does a wicked acoustic version too.
I'm not really a dnb person per se, but it's alwats been a mystery to me and an ambition to unravel it. This is my first attempt at trying to make it, so thanks for the feedback.
If you've not heard of Ed Sheeran, should check him out. Him and Adele are the biggest talents to come from here for decades

I'm still working on this and what I got so far is pretty sublime and gives me a buzz like I don't get that often.
The whole beginning is rephrased with more drum variations and it takes on a bit more of a sinister trip later in the tune. It really is gonna be awesome when it's done.
Should be nearly done but I was taken to hospital yesterday afternoon suffering a seizure. No explanation why. I think I may be over-causticking

Never happened to me before and oddly enough, Gajoga that's the exact point I was listening to when everything started spinning. Thanks for the compliments and advice. I'm trying to stretch my range and dnb has always been a mystery to me so this was kinda my Everest. I've somehow managed to up the pitch on one of the sample machines by a semi but I left it cos it kinda goes with the slightly off feel of it. Glad you like

I actually chopped the samples in CEVS. If you dont already haven't, run a search on this forum and get it. It's exactly the same as the wav editor in pcm and beatbox, but it's in glorious stereo. After I chopped each part, I exported each one as left and right, and imported them into the pcm, panning each part hard left and hard right, then you get the vocals in stereo which really makes a difference. To add to the stereo width, I detuned each sample, slightly up or down. I cant overstate enough just how huge a difference that made to those vocals. All in all it was 160 or so samples, each one chopped, labelled, exported left and right and relabelled. Then I imported them across two pcmsynths, panned and detuned each one and that was before entering a single note. It was hard work dude but it was so worth it. They're really clear without being overpowering. If you check it out on YouTube, it's touching 900 hits in two weeks. I know in terms of cute cats scaring big dogs, 900 hits aint that much, but to me it's huge.

Also, if you're gonna chop up a song, if you dont already know, label each sample alpha-numerically according to the order you want it to appear in the pcm like;
1 I been spending
2 couple women
3 I got sinnin
4 sippin on red wine
Then, put every sample you want loaded, into its own folder, multi select all of them (84 maximum per pcm slot) and zip them.
The zip file will then show up as a loadable preset for the pcm. As long as the wav files have been labelled correctly, they will appear in sequence on the pcm, starting at C2. Sample numbers 73 to 84 will be out of the keyboard range, but you can alter the root key, low key and high key for each one so they occupy the unused, first octave. Each sample's default playback mode will be set to "note on/off" automatically.
Reading it makes it sound like a lot of work, but in the bigger picture, it will save you hours.
The file is there dude, so if you wanna use the pcm presets with the vocals, that's fine by me.
If you post onto YouTube, it's worth remembering copyright issues. With this remix I got a flag on it, saying that the copyright owner has alerted YouTube that it belongs to them. Mostly, the owner will let it stay up as long as it's clearly labelled and they may play an automatic ad before the video.

I guess the trick is to get it out wherever you can.
It's not even as though soundcloud mirrors YouTube, cos my ex machina tune is the best performer on soundcloud, with 174 hits, but on YouTube, it's only scored 26!!
I think YouTube is way more accessible than soundcloud too. If it wasn't for posting music, I don't think I'd use soundcloud, and even now, if I'm looking for a particular tune or acapella, YouTube is my first choice.
Like I said before, if you're going to do a remix of a recent song, you really should get it onto YouTube as well. Can't hurt anyway
