Divisionary here,
I was recently working on this new DnB track when I realized that I couldn't offer it enough of what it needed to be complete. It's a solid track with some pretty decent sound designs. It's finished up until about half of the second verse, in terms of structure. To anyone that is interested in sharing your creativity on this track please feel free to jump on board. At the end of the collaboration I'll take the final project file and master it using FL. Master meaning, eq, multi band compression, stereo processing mid/side, transient shaping, and final limiting. Looking forward to seeing what elements you guys can add!
EDIT: WAIT! I accidentally uploaded the wrong track lol! Give me a sec it seems there's some technical error uploading the right one. I'm getting the following message AJAX Http request terminated abnormally.
PROBLEM FIXED: File is a go
Fixed! Sorry about that. I've been trouble shooting my pc so I've been running into stupid issues like this. Go ahead and download away!

I DL'd it and I will try and work on it this week but I'm also working on a remix of Opiuo's track "Life" which is proving to be very challenging.
Nice!! I already sent mine in lol. I thought the rules said by June first and then realized the deadline is actually July first. Did I read the rules correctly, in gathering that you can send multiple versions? If so, I have like three more versions of it lol. I started mine in may so I had time to try out a few different genres. I'm totally happy with the one I chose but it couldn't hurt to throw a couple more at them. Happy competition brother!

Yeah I believe its July first. Not sure about multiple iterations. I'm doing a DnB remix of it but damn its hard to get the flow right with the lyrics. I'm trying to keep the full length lyrics in tact by building the track around it. I noticed he didnt include the kick drum or the low end bass sounds in the stems, probably keeping that stuff secret, but I'm adding in my own low end anyway. Its just challenging and intimidating to know that your favorite artist will be listening to your stuff, I want to make a good impresssion. I'm such a fanboy lol!
Hey Opiuo is coming to LA and San Diego with the full band. I want to see them live. I have already seen Opiuo live here in SD last year but it was just a Dj set which was still awesome. He is probably my favorite all around EDM artist. I still listen to the Meraki album at least once a week. Love that dude!
I can offer what it needs to be complete. It just needs that extra bit of heart. <3
Which means I'm doing this...
Dude you're my freaking doppelganger as an artist. The remix I stuck with was a DnB remix. It is so hard not showing anyone too. I'm super stoked with what I came up with and can't be like, "check this shit out dude!" I love caustic to death but for this contest I suggest doing most if your processing in ableton. As hard as we are trying to expand the boundaries of caustic and glorify its power, it's just simply not at the level it required by this contest. I just used the drum stems as build up and break beats. Since you're doing your remix in the DnB style, you're going to have to make your own drums based on the full time signature versus the originals half time. In my experience, I found that it is imperative to be as original as possible without tainting the original tracks mood. I know that's pretty vague so I'll try to convey my knowledge in more depth. It's very common for a remixer to either completely rewrite the track they're remixing to where it has completely changed and has virtually no resemblance to the nature of the original. Or, as equally common to making a revision instead of a remix, a remixer will not be confidant enough to change enough of the song they're remixing to claim it as a remix. It then ends up being lazy cover tune. Have confidence in yourself while in parallel with being realistic with yourself and the strengths that you know you possess. If you're great at ducking your mixes sidechain then emphasise how perfect you can dial in your attack, releases, and look ahead to have a perfect amount of kick to bass communication. Also, being as playing your strengths isn't taking much of a risk, you achieve your risk taking through making bold changes that are noticeably different from the original while complimenting the mood the original delivered. It's easier said than done, but it can be done. Try not to make the original artist so big that you enable yourself to stick to the book. Based on experience, the artist does not like hearing their song with too little of changes that it just becomes a that to their ego. Just my advice, hopefully I've helped you a little further along. Good luck brotha!

Ok Mega Commander DIvisionary All Their Base And Galaxy Are Belong To Us.
Thanks for the tips. Yeah I'm working in Ableton for the Opiuo remix. Not that it cant be done in Caustic but having to split up all of the stems into smaller chunks to be loaded into the pcmsynth would probably take weeks. For the remix I just sped it up and warped all of the audio to the higher bpm and kept it all in key. Luckily I just figured out how to make a pretty solid neuro bass using Ableton's operator synth and a shit load of processing. I'm hoping it will work good for the remix. The problem I'm having is trying to keep the funky feel of the tune but also mixing in my own darkness. I have another few weeks to figure it out, so hopefully it will all come together.
Back on topic- I have messed with this one a little bit. Like Phorsion says it just needs some TLC and it will be a good track.
Lol! You just inspired a potentially epic collaborative competition.

You're an fl user! We speak the same language.

I definitely agree. I was too distracted to consolidate it all. We can't lose with this line up. It's going to be one for the books

Dude this is sick! You definitely have a refreshingly unfamiliar style! Can you put the caustic file up? Let's see what elements mekanism can add.

By the way, what is that emoticon a part of? Karnaam uses the same emoticon. Is it a group that you are a part of? Just curious.

The emoticon means the song is extremely euphoric and hectic its so fun. This file is huge it's epic.

Am I suppose to pick up where you left off Phorsion?
OK, I just listened to this briefly and there is some serious out of key stuff going on between the skope bass and the higher end material. Maybe its me I dunno.
First off, good I job on adding some rich elements to the mix phorsion! I hear the out of key elements. We can fine tune each section. So for better organization, let's work on a section at a time. Mek, go ahead and work on the intro section, if you will. Play around with it and see what tasteful elements you can develop. Once you get it where you want it, upload the caustic file and I'll go over it. If there's anything that I can add then I will do that and upload. Then we'll move on to the first verse, and so on... Phorsion, you'll be the first to start on the next section after this one. If there's anything you want to exchange, refine or subtract from the verse feel free to take a stab at it. To keep everyone involved, try to not move on to the next section once you've completed your adjustments. Mek, you're runner up after phorsion, and then me.

Ok, I will try and get this done by tomorrow.
Ok, I just added in 16 bars for the intro, I didn't touch anything else in the arrangement. I did adjust a few things mix-wise. I flattened the master eq, and changed the master comp to help smooth things out a bit and added a low pass to beef up the low end a bit and changed the limiter settings to default. I'm not sure why there were 2 compressors in the master and I still don't understand the side chain modular that isn't side chained to anything. We could probably remove that machine unless you had a special purpose for it. I think you were trying to use it as a bus side chain compressor? Also, to make things easier I always put my drum channel that contains the kick and snare in the first slot, makes side chaining a bit easier as you only need the hit the number button once. We all work differently though so not a big deal.

Hardened. Sequenced up to 40.

Cool mekanism! The purpose of the modular is to have a mono mix that ducks to the trigger. This saves an effects slot for each channel that's being ducked versus putting a compressor on each channel. I believe I have the duck triggered by white noise. I recently learned in the how to mix your low end on bass gorilla that compressors react the most to white noise, because it's solid the whole way through, can be shaped easily, and is constantly consistent. But, as you said to each his own and is definitely no biggie. I'm checking it out now, I'm excited.

I love it dude. Very tasteful. It's starting to come together. I'm going to go over it and see if there's anything I should add but most likely we'll end up moving on to the next section which is where the acid bass comes in. Phorsions vocoder voice thing is a really cool texture. Im thinking we should use it to transition the parts more smoothly. Idk we'll see. Also I want your inputs on mayhem. I have the track but not sure what to go with. Can you guys demo a couple variations of it and then give me your thoughts on it?
Divisionary sounds at www.SoundCloud.com/divisionaryofficial
Ah ok, yeah I saw that tutorial about the white noise ducking as well. The only problem with using it in Caustic is you would have to turn down the volumes of anything that runs through the aux channel, pigeon hole-ing all of that audio which would kill panning, widening and reverb.
I don't remember if I used the optimized machine or not. I'll have to look again. If not I'll put it in this project. I set it up for mid side processing. I'll explain a little more when I'm coherent lol.

Keep that one for a good remix. I think the intro is solid, after mek fixed it up. Did you work on the first verse? I love that vocoded voice dude. It's so captivating.

I'm going to finish this remix...
