I don't know if you're familiar with the Swedish black metal band, mayhem. If not, I'll give you a short background. This is what I was told and am not confidant that it's fully factual. Yet the concept is what the collaboration would be paying on. Unlike most black metal bands, mayhem's members were actually psychopaths. They played a game amongst themselves called, "I am evil", where they each performed a Haynes act of violence and the next member in line would have to top his predecessor. Like a murderous horse. Long story short, the guitarist, stage right, ended up cannibalizing the stage left guitarist, then the drummer killed stage right, and lastly the bassist burned the drummer alive along with a bunch of members of a church. Obviously those guys were sick and my purpose is not to glorify their actions in any way. It just plays on my thought. We should compete in a brutal drop collaboration and call it, top my evil. Basically, one collaborator does four bars of the nastiest, most evil sounding dubstep bass they can make up front, then the next collaborator in line will try to top the previous four bars with more evil. Rounds will be set by 80 bar drops, could be longer, with three rounds(3drops). If your 4 bars are topped then you are eliminated from the round. So on and so forth. Anyone think this would be fun? I'll expand on the details if there are enough willing collaborators.
Additional elements.
-a four four basic dubstep drop beat will be provided for each round.
-each round may vary between full time and half time.
-once all of the drop rounds are competed and a winner is announced, we will move on to the final round entitled "REPENT". in the final round, the winner and the runner up will fight for last man standing in creating a solid chorus. 1st blood will be driving melody structure, retaliation will be lead construction, and salvation or damnation will be comprised of final atmospheric elements and consolidation of the chorus as a whole.
Edit: each collaborator will do eight bars each. Four isn't enough time
Additional edit: the mayhem story has been proven to be exaggerated. Explained later in this thread by musical Android. They were still some sick individuals though.
A dubstep bass is to difficult to make for collaborators on Caustic because the collaborators don't know this contest exists.
OK what if we provide some starter basses. Like some staple basses that collaborators can expand on. It would be a great learning experience. Even if collaborators aren't into dubstep, they would learn how to better control a lot of elements in caustic.

If you make an advertising post about this on off-topic it would be easier to see. No one really checks collaboration anymore, I don't know why.
Starter Basses would be good.....
Here's a free 32 bar demo...

I think we should try and make the basses in Caustic. They won't be "datsik" phat but it will help to push the limits of what is possible.
Totally! I'm talking purely caustic. As a matter of fact we should make it a rule that if you resample using pcm, you can only use samples pulled from caustic's native synths. If a sample is used that is from a this party then you competitor is disqualified and their eight bars are disregarded. The next competitor will take his or her place.

Free 32 bar from me. Just thought I could chill-step by.
Awesome! Thank you phorsion! Do you want to donate some of these bass presets for the competition? I think that subsynth preset is excellent man!

Sure. I have some bass files or something because I experimented quite much with subsynth and modular and vocoder. I even made a sharing thread with some useful stuff.

Awesome! Thank you! Do you think we should give collaborators a starter pack? That would be the most helpful in my opinion. I also am supplying one mid bass, one sub, one pluck, one lead, and some effects, plus a plug and play sidechain mix. It should be straight forward enough for most users.

Actually I changed my mind. There are so many hard dubstep caustic users here. There's Snakekilla, Splinter, and others I forgot about. But still. Everyone deserves a starter pack. Even if the round is full of trappin bro chillstep which wins like a boss sending listeners on a trip to outer space.
What would really make this fly so to speak is if they just play. Just play one round and gather information about if they did well or not.
Starter pack it is. (Divisionary's Mayhem Starter Pack)
Oh and you should probably make a new thread. I replied too much already.
You got your Mayhem facts wrong!
The singer killed himself with a shotgun and one other member stabbed one of the others to death.
There is still a lot of gruesome stories around the whole affair and the one that stabbed one to death is now living in France and have left satanism behind for total fascism and some adaptation of Scandinavian viking mythology...
The guitarist in my band in the end of the eighties beginning of the nineties was playing guitar in a black metal band with the singer before all of this and we heard a lot of craziness about these guys already before all this happened.
There is some books etc regarding the whole event but in either case the surviving guy living in France is a disgusting douchebag!
This is the time the night and the year
Lol! Thank you for the enlightenment! I was skeptical about the story I was fed. But did not care enough to look into it. Yeah regardless of the rumours, those guys were fucking insane! Still a nice little pad of evil to launch off of. I guess I'll do a little research on it now that it's fresh on my mind. At least now I don't have the image of a bunch of burning innocent people in my head when I think about them now. I could care less what religion people follow, as I don't care to have one. No one deserves to die over another persons preference. Anyhow, my mind is focused on brutal low end frequencies. Thanks again for the knowledge!
