Chantra: Trilogy (Done!!!)

Caustic Song file (optional):

*slight changes. Pretty found the missing clap and I added some acid to part three. Pretty
Pretty much done now. Part Three took an unexpected turn after I took out alternate bars of flithers awesome melody and it just sounded totally different. The three parts together make for quite a length and I was originally going to have them as separate pieces. Part One is still here as its own piece, but it sounds so much better as one piece. Let me know if you think it should be separated.
I hope you enjoy.
Please comment, good or bad.
Cheers

Class. You've done huge work

Class. You've done huge work here, especially with the first part's sitar line. I'm happy you've included the earlier demos' "fire" part in it, it adds beautiful airy emotion to the tune. Definitely in the top of Caustic creations yes

This is living up to

This is living up to expectations very nicely, waited until I cold get some peace and quiet, so listened on my train, through HTC phone and headphones, it's crackin' moves really easy between the 2 pieces, great flow, and automations, so much work here, and the soundstage is really clear and separated, but as always the song is the key, and this vibe is top stuff really liking it, now come on no slouching now,  when the end sign is in sight...lol...only teasin', will look forward to the complete piece

Thanks guys.

Thanks guys.
Flither, sorry I forgot to credit you in the original write up. Rectified.
I always try to make every sound noticeable without stealing thunder. It's a tricky process that doesn't always come off and that's why you'll never see a poor sound engineer. Well, apart from us lot lol. The problem is that I cant just make something louder to be heard because then the tune crosses the line between sound and noise. The original bassline for this was so low, you could feel it in your stomach (even though I was wearing earphones!) But when it all came together, it made the rest of the sounds null. I still dont think I've got the balance right and feel like something is missing in the final drop.
As for part three, it's a tricky one. With part one and part two, they are kind of intrinsic to each other. Part one is supposed to feel like a hot sunrise. Part two is supposed to feel like the day at it's hottest. So a lot of the elements thau I used to hopefully evoke the sun and the geography carry over from one to two. But part three is the sunset/dusk, which requires totally different soundscapes. It has to sound softer too. All my slots are used, so now I'm working through ways of messing with the filters to try and create softer, more soothing sounds. And also scouring the net for samples of night sounds to layer over it. Crickets, seagulls, crashing waves and such. Think Jam&Spoon's remix of Go by Moby, and that's along the lines of what I'm after now. Like I said, it may be sometime lol.
But so glad you like it so far

This is epic and well done.

This is epic and well done.  I especially like the first part with the sitar.  I can appreciate the challenge of blending acoustic instruments with EDM elements, and you have done a good job of it with this track.

I do not at all intend to high jack this thread, but have to mention this because: (1) your track reminds me of this amazing artist and (2) based on your track, I think you will enjoy the artist, if you are not familiar already. . .

Artist: Keita Sano

Song: Bouzouk

Again, nice work Alexei.

Cheers dude. Means a lot. Will check out that stuff currently looking for for authentic Asian/Indian ambience. Stumbled across freesounds which is awesome. All the samples are crystal clear which helps when you're looking for crashing water waves. I planned to take a break but it's kinda taken me over and when I'm not working on it, I'm thinking of work on it lol. Part Three is on its way

Cheers dude. It's supposed to be a journey through the day. Sunrise, daytime and night time. I have the three parts as separate tunes just to see if they would be better like that but honestly, it's loads better as one work and I dont think it feels overly long.
I still cant believe I'm making this on a mobile phone lol

Exactly! 14 minutes can look a little bit long at first, but I didn't feel bored or waiting for the end. It just flows, flows and you don't even realize the lenght. This will be my favourite track now for looping sessions smiley

Excellent...! So, from getting off my train to getting to my work door is about a 20 minute walk, it transformed the usual bun fight over London Bridge into a dance, for me this is about perfect track timing...lol...Personally If I had created this I would be absolutely chuffed to bits, so I will presume you are. Dead right to have it as a one piece, in my opinion it works flawlessly ( though as the creator you will probably have little doubts ) I'm not gonna bang on about the technicalities, It's a great song well done

Cheers guys. It's so good to hear so many positive comments about it.
It was a lot of fun, but it kinda took over at one point. Parts of it kicked my ass and I am still working on final tweaks and quirks (a clap that disappears for eight bars, a bass that won't hum and growl at the same time etc) but on the whole, I am really pleased with it and especially part three cos it was totally different to how I had it in my head. After spending hours looking for prayer calls and downloading and processing the samples, I only used one lol.
Am now toying with the idea of a Susan Boyle dnb remix lol. I bore easily

Just spent six hours trying to upload this to YouTube thru tunestotube. Had to convert it to mp3. Took ages. File too big. Lowered the bitrate. Still too big. Lowered it again. Took ages more. Finally up and it sounds shit. Why cant it just be easy?

Cant remember who suggested it, but I use tunestotube.com. All you need is the song, in mp3 format, and a picture. It does it all for you. 25MB limit but it does the job for me dude. Spent ages looking for an app but they were all either spam or shit.
Hope this helps

Fantastic work on all three

Fantastic work on all three parts! I've a bad habit of making lengthy tracks. I've always loved them as such. But, why stop at fourteen minutes? Morning, noon, night, and no dream time? I'd slooooowly fade the waves away & turn the seagulls up two octaves make it sound like crickets with a breeze. Then lightly use the distinct sounds from all three other parts at half speed. Draw that out over four minutes. Then, over the course of another minute, bring it up to the point of the very beginning of the journey. Basically, make one twenty-minute loop.

Again, as it is, great work.

Haha. It may be a while. I actually did source some crickets, but wasn't sure of the feasibility of crickets on a beach in India. You like octaves, dont you dude?

It works quite well.

It works quite well.

I love throwing in a few melodious notes that remain relatively inaudible. Or viceversa. Well, that is, until the knob is twiddled. Since it's in the song, the listener already has it in their head, and it just needs to pop out at the right time.

The bassline for this is the little melody that starts at 1m48s. And it's one hell of a bassline!

That opening is one note

That opening is one note going down five octaves. *shrugs* I love the results.

Haven't thought of Grid in years. Upon listening to it, the day after completion, I thought it sounded like Spacetime Continuum. Thus, the title.

I really enjoyed this.  I am

I really enjoyed this.  I am visual and love music that creates images in my mind.  Of course, your comments pushed me in the right direction, but I definitely see the start of day, mist on the water, as the sun rises in a hot country but as the rhythm kicks in (2:20) I see all the people traveling from country to city on dusty roads, then after an interval the voices and rhythm kick up and new melodies come in (3:30) and I see the marketplaces all opening up.  The buyers and sellers start the day and the activity bustles.  The second part starts in mid-morning heat, activity still there but muted by the heat but still the activity builds in anticipation of all activity stopping in the noontime heat.  Your voices mostly end around 7:30 and you just have the beating sun, blazing heat.   In part 3, I am walking up from the seaside in the evening toward where people are now involved in evening activities, the rhythm is still there and the voices but it is no longer buying and selling, it is just the enjoyment of the evening and then the quiet slowly comes as all human activity slips into sleep and we just have the waves and birds.

Or it could be just really good music!  I like combining what is a more western melody and chord progression with all the eastern rhythms and sounds.

JHS

Dude you pretty much hit the nail on the head with your description. It's kinda what I got in my head as I was making it. If there was a video too it, it would be a time lapse affair, kinda like Ray of Light by Madonna, but in India. Really appreciate the comments. I always wonder if people skim through my tunes or take it all in, so thanks for taking the time to listen and comment

Happy to help dude. Just replied to your comment on my Bloodstream remix. Hope it helps you. I only use my phone and caustic to do everything.
It's not clear whether you're aware of the wav editor in pcm synth or not. If you need any more help, dont hesitate to ask. Me or anyone else here. A lot of what I've learnt technically has been through this site dude
Really glad you enjoyed it :-D
