Dharma Wheel

Well this is my latest effort, I have included the Soundcloud file, although, it seems to inevitably lost some of the dynamics, I listened to the mp3 after converting it on my phone this morning through headphones and it seemed ok...anyway as usual any thoughts you might have and would like to share please feel free...smiley

Yet again, very unique and quite brilliant dude. Very reminiscent of the early days of stereo recording with the hard panning.
Dont think for a second it's a criticism cos it isnt dude, but I'd soften the bass and bring up the lower frequencies on it too. But love it. Love the choice of instruments and the toms are just top notch. Always so good to hear your stuff cos you never quite know what you're gonna get, but you know it'll be good.
Hard panning - sounds like a porno set in a studio

Cheers mate, yeah I guess the technical parts of putting something together are for me always a challenge, there are actually 2 bass tracks on this, maybe the weight is the wrong way round...hmm...at one point I put on a full delay on the drums, so when it came to the end drum pattern, it just kept going, had this quite cool shuffle type thing going, but I couldn't quite get control of it enough, so got rid...hey thanks for your feedback, always appreciated...oh and who doesn't like a bit of hard panning...lol...

"Argh! D'you know how much it's gonna cost to get that mixing desk cleaned??"
:-D
Anyhoo, I can hear that there's two basses there.
You got one that sounds like a wood bass that I would just take a little bit of edge off and up the lower register with a para eq. But like I say, it might just be personal preference. I do like my bass. I blew my parents thousand watt stereo when I was 11, playing UB40 with the bass on 11 and the loudness on. Then when they replaced the speakers, I broke the belt drive on the turntable trying to scratch. Man, that stereo was awesome. We were the first white people in the neighbourhood to have a stereo with bass and treble control lol

As for the delay, did you try

As for the delay, did you try lowering the wet/dry mix? Or just try animating the feedback a little to take it slightly off full. It never frigging stops on full lol

UB40, man that's a blast from the past my older brother used to play them on his stereo, can't quite remember what it was now, pretty powerful, yeah the bass was the thing, wasn't it...

Yeah I could turn down the wet signal, but went in to alter a certain drum part, and had to re do the animation, and could not get it quite how i wanted it, hey ho, it didn't spoil the track, it was just a funky idea that I had, might try it again on another piece, appreciate the advice...cool..of for my lunch break in a minute, a smoked mackerel salad is calling me...lol...

I really enjoyed this piece,

I really enjoyed this piece, it's like a chameleon, keeps changing its color. None of the changes are abrupt, everything weaves nicely. There is a lot in there that is more like psychedelic jams from the early '70s than modern music.  Very nice!

Hey thanks mate, yeah, I

Hey thanks mate, yeah, I think at the initiation of the idea, I had in mind a kind of Steve Hillage/Hawkwind/very early Soft machine hybrid, so maybe that worked to a certain degree...I'm not that concerned with putting things out that are of any particular era, I just make whatever I feel like making, but at the same time, hopefully some of my stuff might fall into a more modern vibe...one day...lol...

Appreciate your feedback...ta...smiley

Ha, I hope you took the reference to early '70s psych jams as a compliment! I spoke as one who has been there.  I also follow the non-genre-specific path.  Wherever the sounds lead ...

Nice track Wellsley, really

Nice track Wellsley, really like chugging funk guitar type sound going on in the background. And you just can't go wrong with a bit of well-placed flute...
