Drums are like onions (they have layers)

I'm working on my remix of "Ralph Bakshi" by Kabuto the Python. After making a beat and laying in a scratch vocal track* I thought I would like to pan the drums - I first used the PK LOOSE preset for PCMsynth from Pocketkit Pro 3. But panning a single PCM machine would make the drums quieter in one channel. So I added another PCM and loaded a different preset, PK FUNKY 9 from the first PKit Pro, copied all the patterns over from the other PCM, made minor tweaks to one of the patterns, and then panned them almost completely into opposite channels. It makes the drums sound thicker as well as making the left and right channels not sound the same. I'll be sure to share here when I get it done, but I have to finish the instrumental (with the Chapman Stick) and record my guest verse before that can happen.

*the final version will be the exported instrumental laid alongside the original stereo acapella in Audacity.

Interesting...... Let me know

Interesting...... Let me know when you get it rendered out and up in S&T, I am curious to hear this one.....

I have a slimmed down build of PKPlatinum running on G-Stomper, and when Caustic 3.2 arrives (in its due time of course) it will really rock in its native stereo field here in Caustic....

I wonder if the new editor in

I wonder if the new editor in 3.2 will allow us to add stereo effects like chorus, delay, flanger, static flanger, to mimic a haas effect in each channel in the beatbox or if it will be summed to mono anyway.  This would be awesome if it worked that way.

It couldn't be overstated

It couldn't be overstated enough how useful this technique can be. Particularly as you say with drums, but also vocals. Even if you only have the mono vocals, you should employ the ADT technique by doubling up and hard panning each sample with a slight detune.
Thanks, Abbey Road Studios
It seems that stereo capabilities will be high on the agenda for the next update, so who knows.

in 3.2, stereo content from

in 3.2, stereo content from CEVS (or the same style editor in Caustic when it arrives) will remain stereo..... but you do have the option to sum-mono, or summed-L or -R.

Stereo samples should be available to route through PCM and BB, and I believe the Modular MachineInput (with some options there hopefully)

That will be a really cool thing, when it's ready

It is my understanding that the features of CEVS will be the same for Caustic 3.2's editor, and maybe a few extras as well.... will be a fantastic update there, undoubtedly

Here's the WIP file, with scratch bass (stick) and my 16-bar verse roughed in. It ends prematurely, just before Kabuto's final verse (wherein he admits it's all really over the top and that he might have a problem ^_^; )
But you can certainly check out my layered drums.

I chorused my rap verse in the attached file for a similar effect.
