Hangpan or Hang drum
This beautiful musical toy was in fact a “hang drum” (pronounced “haang”) and despite it’s appearance and tone, is a very modern instrument, first designed and manufactured in Switzerland in the 1990s. Slapping or tapping the different divots around the outside of the metal drum produce different tones within a scale, rich with harmonics.

This is a really nice little saw wave with a quick lfo decay rate. Played in conjunction with the Ghost X preset, and with some light reverb and delay, its a classic trance sound, ideal for melodies and arps, especially if you bring the cutoff up along with slowing the lfo decay, culminating in a crisp, sharp sound.
